The 904 isn't that bad. The 962 is probably the sexiest Porsche ever. Alan, you still have those Dauer 962LM photos?

Significant Technical Input
914? Isn't that the Porsche Corvair?

IMHO:
The 906 is more fun looking than the 904.
I'd like driving a 550 or 718 daily, and spending the weekends in a 917/30.

SWEEEET! I read the new 997TT pulled a 3.2 0-60, but since it was on a runway (much higher friction then asphault) they want to test it again. A steal at $112k.

I Think I Saw This Bad Boy On Tv...

it was one of those marque specials, Porsche, they have on the Speed channel and they showed this street legal beast right at the end. The English guy with the French name roared off in it and it sounded incredible. Apparently a handful of hand built street legal (in Europe) Porsche race cars. Very cool, and one of the best reasons I've ever seen to be RICH!
What engine does it have and what's curb weight?

"The engine was the Le Mans spec 2994cc (3.0L) watercooled flat-six with twin-cam per bank operating 4 valves per cylinder. Twin KKK turbochargers with individual intercoolers. Bosch Motronic 1.7 engine management system controlled the ignition and injection. With an extraordinarily-high compression ratio of 9.0:1, the engine output an astonishing 730 hp at 7,600 rpm and 517 lbft at 5,000rpm. That translated to an astonishing 240hp per litre!"

....and 2380 lbs. SICK!!!!!

The 917/30 was awesome, but I was always partial to the 935/76 "Moby Dick", the ultimate 911-ish race car.

The new GT2 and GT3 are previewed in the new issue of Automobile I just got yesterday.

I'm not who should be insulted. I autocrossed a '65 Corvair Corsa (140 hp).
It was a great car, except for the mickey mouse fan belt tensioning system, which allowd the belt to come off during hard acceration/deceleration, just like what one encounters in autocross. Solved that little problem by taking the fan off just before the run, which improved throttle response and may have freed one or two hp. Eventually I got a Yenko tensioner, problem solved.

My '71 914/6 (German racing silver, polished Fuchs wheels) was a v. cool car and alot of fun to drive. Girls loved the removable roof and the sound of the Porsche engine. I have always lusted for a 914/6 GT with a 2.4 or 3.0 engine.

Some fine reasons to be rich. I've seen a couple of barely street legal 917s. I'd be afraid to drive one of those on the street. Calif Highway Patrol would arrest me on sight on general principles. Sure would be fun to track one though.

Money well spent. I for the life of me can't remember where I heard the pellet gun line in your signature Alan. I know I'll kick myself when you tell me.
