Custom Driveshafts
Anyone interested in one piece rear driveshafts for a manual swop? I just sent out one to "DriveShaft Shop" in up state New York, to have it balanced. It wouldnt be hard for them to take the dimensions off of it and make a few. They make alot of shafts for drag racers, including CV and one piece rear shafts for the Subaru WRX. The shaft I had made locally fit perfectly with the '92 Legacy tranny. I think the length would work with any 5-speed tranny. I'm not sure about a 6-speed. They will be relocating to South Caroline in a little over a month, but I have there current phone number and address if anyone is interested.

Driveshaft
I am VERY interested in your 'shaft idea.
I still have the wonderful? 4EAT auto. Have been thinking about "building" a 'shaft w/greaseable joints! Does your source use greaseable joints? I'm sure he could build whatever length we want(5 or 6 spd or 4EAT). He would just need to know what trans we have, and boom done for future buyers. Please let me know about the joints. Thanks, mile-hi-bri - Brian |

HEE HAW!!! HEE HAW!!! HEE HAW!!! . Do the do tranny work as well? Wondering what they'd want to beef up the rear dif and weld the internals together so we can go RWD.

OK, here's some answers for you. They use greasable joints on all there shafts. They can do them in both alumimum and steel. Alumimum = Approx. $450. Steel= approx. $329. I think they only do driveshafts. There web site is www.driveshaftshop.com

Ya I was kind of suprised when he told me too. I paid 125 for the steel one I just sent them. They're only charging me $50 + shipping for the to balance it, so it works out cheaper. I was annoyed when I found out I had to pay someone else to balance it. Now I relized I saved nearly $100. I'm guessing theres are suppose to be stronger. I'm wondering if he thought I ment there CV shafts and not the center shaft?

yea, my bro got a new shaft when he did his tt swap. The guy told him his shaft was rated to 750 wheel horse, so I think in the lines of strength, one of those babies will do me fine. Not to mention the steel shafts are only slighty heavier than aluminum, so I will be going the steel route
