Some more information
Might be a good idea to keep an eye on the web page as there is quite a bit of last minute info being changed/added.
Here are a couple of things though..... As mentioned earlier, this year's Spring Classic will have more scenic stops and points of interest. This entails stops at State Parks, which entails a parking fee. $5.00 per car will cover you for the day and I will hand out passes at the driver's meeting. Make sure you have close to a full tank of gas when you get to the meeting point Saturday morning (there are a couple gas stations right off I-5 there). Once we start out on the tour, none of the stops are near a gas station. The trip is only around 100 miles, so you should be fine if you just fill up that morning before the start. Past experience has shown us that FRS radios are the best way to communicate on these tours. If you have some, bring them along as they are a handy way to stay in touch while we are driving, especially if the pack gets seperated. We have also found that the longer the distance the radio is rated for, the better they work, at least in the locations we drive (I'm sure the titanium in the windsheilds doesn't help either). 2-4 mile ones rarely have worked any time two cars are out of sight of each other, 6-8 mile work much better, up to a mile or so. Remember to pack clothes for any weather. We are hoping for sunshine but rain will not stop us! And even on a warm day, it can get cold and breezy on the beach and other areas near the water. Bring a flashlight if you are interested in exploring some of the old forts we will be stopping at. Eat a good breakfast and/or bring snacks for the trip if you are prone to hunger. There will not be any stops where food is available until around 2:00pm. Only two more days!
I'm getting pretty excited for this, the route and locations are pretty great even by oneself, not even taking into account that there will be a whole group of SVXes there too!
All the information on starting time and location, etc are still correct on the web, let me know if you have any questions at all though.
