awd THUMP! checked search
Searched to see what it was got a number of different answer. One answer was that if the abs didn't work right the awd didn't work right.
Second was the C selinoid should be replaced. Third the transfer case should be checked for metal shavings incase it was destroyed. Any ideas.... Let me know if this has happened to you thanks |

Your posts are difficult to understand. Might I suggest in the future that, when you post a question, you don't assume that people know what your problem is without telling them.
Your front wheels spin and then the rears engage with a 'clunk,' is that right? Your transfer clutch is worn out. I recommend replacing duty solenoid C along with it because the labor involved is the same. I've heard of some people paying up to $900 for this repair, but it really shouldn't be nearly that much. We're talking a couple hours of labor and less than $200 in parts. The ABS system has nothing to do with AWD in the SVX. Wheelspin is detected by the two speed sensors in the transmission - one is in the front diff and the other is in the extension housing ('transfer case,' as you called it). Anyway, that's really it - your transfer clutch is slipping because it's worn out. The same thing happened to my wife's Legacy. Given enough slipping it'll start to burn the fluid, so if you can't get it fixed right away at least keep an eye on the ATF and make sure it stays clean.
