BEAV!!!! (or anybody thats rebuilt an alternator before
Ok, so i call up the transpo distrbutor, they tell me a "local" shop (ended up not being anywhere near me even though he said it was in the same zipcode... which it wasn't) Call up this little ho-dink shop, give the guy the two numbers.. he has a problem finding one, however i reiterate that i can cross reference it on the distributors website, they should be able to.. drive WAY the hell out of my way to get the parts, and the freaking rectifier is the wrong part number... its IMR10064 instead of 10068 like i told the guy...
What should i do? try to complain and get the right part? or just modify this one to work? the part that doesn't fit is a plastic piece that i don't really think is there for any reason other than fitment... but i'm going to take a picture of the old one, new one, and reason why the new one doesn't fit.. let me grab a camera.. brb

Okay, Pics are in my locker, the black plastic thing i have a picture of is just too long.. what is that piece, and can I "make" it fit????? i do NOT want to have to wait another week before i can go and get a new part, plus i don't think this shop would take it back, they're a little shady even though this was very much their fault
but i also do NOT want to try and modify it to fit, have it not work, and be out the 40$ Edit: I would like to point out the alt pictures are very not 56k friendly, but i can't fix them right now.. if you only open one, open the "this is why it doesn't fit" one.. should be best explanation.. what is that black thing?!?

For my money I'd make them give me the right part. If you try to make it fit what recourse will you have if it doesn't work?
Sorry to hear you're having a problem, I was hoping you'd find it to be an easy afternoon project. I can't recall what that piece is from memory, It is either just an insulator or a diode.
