svx chat not working
ok whenever i try to join the svx chat on this site it tries to load the java applet and then shows a red x in the upper left corner of the grey java applet box. at the bottom in the status bar it says "java applet failed" or something like that. does this happen to anyone else on here? anyone know how to fix this?
thanks |

If you are running XP you will probably have to download a program such as mIRC to get it to work. That's what I had to do.

I'm sorry that I can't be more help (cause I'm all by myself in the chat room!), but I'm not a computer person. Someone will be able to help you out, but maybe not tonight.

It's because Microsoft does not include their Java VM with their OS's or on Windows Update anymore. You might be able to use Sun Java but it's not guaranteed.
mIRC should work. If anyone has questions about setting it up let me know. I've included an interface to a web based IRC client (will work anywhere and should get around any firewall) on my site: http://svx-iw.com/irc.html

Earthworm's right. Java VM is no longer available. You can however download the Java client from the following website:
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp You'll probably need it for some websites or web based apps. |
