The AWD version is for Aust. only. It uses a Subaru VTD. on the back of the box. Unfortunatly the front drive shaft, runs down the LHS of the engine to the front diff. So it can't have the steering on that side.

Yes Chris, and with the new four valve, all alloy, replacement that they are building to replace the old GM 3.8 lt push rod, should be a screamer. More top end power than they have ever had, and with the Subaru Vtd, it should get most of it to the ground, big time.

Harvey.

Just a bit of trivia...

Did you know that the Pontiac GTO rides a shortened Opel Omega chasis? The Opel Omega (built in Germany) was sent over here as the Cadillac Catera from 97-01. Inspecting the GTO, I only see a few things that are the same as my Catera, but the platform is pretty similar and I think they use the same GM French 4-speed auto. tranny (pretty bulletproof and used by BMW on teh 5-series). You can see pics of my Catera in my locker but the interiors are quite different so it's hard to compare. The only thing is the the fit and finish in both cars is waaaaaay above typical GM models.

GM comes out with some pretty good stuff when they raid the part bins of their foreign subsidiaries and rebadge things to fool some of the more ignorant people here. We all know the boys in Detroit could not have come out with anything this nice with such beautiful fit and finish. I would really like to have one of these GTO's!
