Hmmm, It's a cool car... I'm not a Ford person though... I'd much rather have a Porsche 911 GT2... To me that would be more my car tahn the Ford GT...

I'd love to own one. Back to my Roots, so to speak. I still love American Muscle and the fact that the GT is on Steroids doesn't bother me at all. Maybe someday, when I win the lottery. Of course, I'd have to buy a ticket, so, I don't guess there's much chance in that.

They're in different markets, so I'd call this comparison unfair. Of course, if you're broadening your scope to include 'all cars I can't afford,' then I guess they're competitive.

I've read a few drive tests of the GT, and every one so far favors it over the 360. That's just so cool, and so in keeping with the GT40's tradition. Yay, Ford!

Oh, I think you're absolutely right. I didn't say 'yay, Ford' because I'm a huge Ford fan. I said it because they made something genuinely cool and didn't just capitalize on ther heritage for a marketing ploy.

The Top Gear website has a very favorable review of the DB9.

I watched about 3/4's of the Superbowl commercials, and for automotive ads, I only saw three:

Ford: A couple different spots for the GT, first one didn't show much, kinda a teaser, the last one showed a pretty decent shot of the whole car in action. The series of spots was all aired during the pregame show, for which the Ford GT was named the "official sponsor".

Dodge: One spot for that Hemi powered station wagon monster thing. I don't spend hours reading car sites and mags so sorry the name slips me. The commercial states that it is "the most powerful production car for under $30,000". Note that powerful doesn't have to mean 1/4 mile times and 0-60 before someone bring up the Sti or something. They probably just have the most hp in that thing.

Chevy: A couple different spots, all for the same car. Some ugly (IMO) little compact car called Aveo or something like that. Why not a spot for the new Vette or that little beasty truck/convertible thing? Guess they were shooting for a lower market while the other two went higher.

Oh and I saw one other car ad, I *think* it was for Mitsubishi, they never said in the commercial, it was just a challenge Galant vs. Camry where they are driving the two cars down the highway with trucks in front of them throwing "obstacles" out at them. At the end of the commerical they throw out tow old cars and as the cars crash and flip, etc, the Camry and Galant are approaching quickly. The commerical just ends and simply shows a web URL something like "findoutwhathappens.com" (I don't remember exactly). Never said who the commerical was for, but I think from some of the context it was for Galant. I was too lazy to try to check out the conclusion with dial up.

This was originally a negative post, but I'm changing it.

I'm glad somebody's focusing on handling and how it can help you in the real world. Too many manufacturers today throw in thirty airbags and call a car safe. But the same car has vague handling, no road feel and terrible grip.
