Rear Differential Gaskets/Seals

I made the mistake of not providing my shop with the gaskets and seals requred for the rear differential. They're tearing it apart in order to put in a 3.90 ring and pinion. Kerven Subaru can't have the parts to me by Monday, and that would greatly delay the project. No local parts houses have anything aftermarket.

My questions:

Could I use a form-a-gasket product to seal the rear differential plate?

Could I re-use the wheel gaskets and o-rings?

What do you guys think?

Mike

You can use gasket sealant (temporally) and as long as they do not damage the carrier "O" ring than they should be fine. The seals themselves should not need replacing unless they were leaking to begin with. Remember you do not want to take the carriers back apart because this is what sets the preload.

I just had Kerven overnight all the stuff. I'll take care of it in the morning.
