How do I top-up front diff oil?

I checked the dipstick on the front diff the other day and found it to be well below the minimum level.

I don't know how it got low, because I haven't seen any evidence of leaks. It could have been that way for a while because I generally only check the engine oil and the tranmission fluid.

Anyway, the service manual tells me what sort of oil to add, but not where to add it. I can't see any sort of filler hole. Do I have to pour it down the dipstick hole?

Phil.

Phil,
Yes, you'll need to fill through the dipstick hole. Obviously, caution needs to be taken not to overfill.

You'll need one of those funnels that looks like a "Trumpet." The longer the spout, the better. If available, a long, bendable "gooseneck" funnel would serve best.
