Thumbs up Faith in the justice system RESTORED

I went to court last Thurs on the 8th, in Fond Du Lac, WI. Dressed nice, not in a suit, but a nice sweater and khakis. Kristin came with me, in case they took my license away. I had 2 points left, due to one honest ticket for going 12 over (fine with that one) and one ticket MEANT for someone else, but the stupid test team (speed trap cops in madison) pulled ME over instead (6 FREAKING POINTS! Went to court on that, it was pointless).

Anyway, long story short, literally 2/3 of the people in the court room were nailed at the EXACT SAME PLACE I WAS. A total speed trap, and completely there JUST to generate revenue, not save lives. It was my turn, I pleaded no contest. The judge lowered it to 7 over the limit, but it was still 3pts. He was about to call the next person, but I told him that I was also having a points problem, and if he could lower it. Seeing as how they have no 1 pt violations, I told him about the incident in madison with the cops pulling over ME instead of the woman in the SUV, and going to court and them not doing anything. He actually LISTENED to me, I was amazed! So what he did is he told me to plead "not guilty', and they moved my court date to sometime in MARCH, and CHANGED the 'violation' date to the court date. THis way I can take a traffic school and not lose my license over a revenue generating buttcrackville incident!

Thank you Judge!

- Rob

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

I see you still haven't changed you general overall attitude. If people weren't speeding, no one would have gotten stopped by this "illegal" speed trap. I'm sure everyone doing 55 drove right through. You can't see the forest for the trees.

Thumbs up

I had a similar experience, kinda a bs ticket..

I was passing on a 2 lane road. Who just happens to be there watching...smokey of course 80 in a 55 Big bucks fine and points, etc...

So...I went to court and they offered to drop it to 64 in a 55 if I pleaded no contest and paid up. No mess no fuss. Much better. Of course I took the deal.

My advice for all tickets - go to court. You'll save money or points or both. It is partly a scam to collect money, so if they can get it easier by giving you a break, they usually will rather than fight it out.
