axle replacement

shame on me for asking this since i already did this with my fellow maryland svxer's....but i have to replace the passenger side axle now and forgot what the correct size socket for the axle nut was.

And one side note, i was reading the svx service manuals and they mention a puller used to remove the ball joint from the control arm. i asked a couple of automotive sotres and they didn't seem to know what i was talking about. They said to just bang it out with a hammer, that's an idea but i would rather not hammer my beloved svx. Anyone know where i can find this tool?

Thanks in advance, chris

Don't use a hammer or separator for the ball joint. If you take off the 3 bolts that hold the ball joint mount it is much easier and you dont risk damage.

The axle nut is 32mm.

I don't know why everyone has so much trouble with the ball joint. I've had the axles out of my SVX a couple times now and I don't bother with the 3 bolts to remove the ball joint. The single bolt works fine for me.

I agree......I just did my pass. side axle last wed. and everything went as smooth as could be. Just took the bolt out of the joint, gave it a little tap and it slid right out. And this is one thing I wanted to mention.....I thought that the axle itself was pretty darn beefy. Nice heavy piece of equipment.
