Black plastic box

Does anyone know what the black plastic box that is on the underside of the intake manifold is called? It is right next to the IRIS unit. I need one because the little nipples broke off when the vacum line was taken off. Also does anyone out there have one for sale? At this point the mechanic is stuck again and I need to get this car on the road, it's my daily driver. Appreciate any help or advise asap. Thanks

Re: Black plastic box

you could just drill the hole out and epoxy in a new nipple. cheap, easy, and fast.

Re: Black plastic box

It's a vacuum reservoir for the IRIS. And the suggestion above should work, I think it's just an empty pastic tank. No baffles or check valve trickery.

Re: Black plastic box

That's a bit strange. Not exactly super fragile. Was your mechanic a bit rough with it?

And yes the check valve is the little black plastic thing that is inline in the vacuum hose that runs to it (less than an inch from the tank). It's not incorporated into the tank.

So make sure that check valve isn't also damaged before it all goes back together.

Re: Black plastic box

I'm not sure exactly how it broke but I know all the hoses are rock hard after 20 years. Any other suggestions on things to check before it goes back together?

Re: Black plastic box

Yes thanks for the connection. Anybody out there have one? The dealer wants $80 for it and at this point my funds are running out but I don't want to risk trying to fix this one, although I appreciate the suggestion. If I didn't have to take the manifold off to get to it I would definately try to fix it.

Re: Black plastic box

For $80 you're better off making one yourself. It's literally just a tank with two nipples coming out of it.
