I doubt I'll ever actually visit 'the Dragon.' Great driving roads are, well, great and all, but the one you speak of is too well-known. My impression is that it's filled to the brim with asshats. If I want to drive a car in a spirited manner, I'll do it on a track.

I drove my BMW 545i on "The Dragon" last year. It was a bit of a detour for me as I was on my way back from Charlotte... but man am I glad I did. Of course, it was later in the year, so most of the crazy bikers had given up the helmets for the year... but man it was fun! There's nothing like carving a car like that into those bends and just feeling the power pulling you through a curve.

The SVX would also be damned good for this... though there's no doubt in my mind the 545i was better unless you've done significant suspension upgrades

It's more about getting together than the drive, but the rode (even at the speed limit) is a really cool drive, and great scenery abounds in the area...and there are many, less know, equally as good roads in the area too...
