Anyone with Justy experience?

I'm thinking of buying a Justy as a winter beater to give the SVX a rest (and keep the salt off it), and there are two '93's for sale in town. One is a FWD, the other is AWD. Each is listed at $600. The FWD one "needs little to pass inspection", and the AWD "needs a water pump, suspension work, brakes, and a gas tank repair".

Has anyone here worked on the little 3-banger much? Is the water pump easy, or a total pain in the ass?

Also, , the stock tire size is 145-12, which isn't available anymore. I guess I'd have to step up to 13 inch wheels. Pimpin, yo.

Yes the water pump is a PITA, great car though for what it is. The engine is very rev happy and fun to toss around. Yeah 13 inchers are what came on 'em here.

Re: Anyone with Justy experience?

Never had to work on one, as mine was indestructible. I can say that it was a barrel of fun to drive with the clutch-optional-after-1st-gear 4speed, and a wheelbase short enough to surprise many a 4x4 on the jeep trails around my house. Sometimes, after some heavy drinking, I actually miss that car.

Re: Anyone with Justy experience?

Our Justy was an awesome little car. Lots of fun to drive. Better on slippery roads than a Legacy or SVX. The 3 cyl 1.2 is a great little engine.

Re: Anyone with Justy experience?

Alright, we'll see. A friend is interested in the FWD one, and I might low ball the guy with the AWD one. It does have the ECVT tranny though. Are those known to be an issue?

Yes, I'd recomend staying away from the Justy's ECVT tranny.....they are nortorious for going bad....they are basically a lawn mower tranny, and is belt driven!
Try to find a manual one if you can.

I'd actually like one for my youngest daughters first car next year....

Cool, that in mind I'll probably pass on this one. I don't really care about the FWD one. I can just buy a Civic and beat the living hell out of it every day if I'm in that ballpark.

There's also an 85 GL for $1000 with about 90,000 miles on it. Hmmmm....
