European SVX parts suppliers

Hi there,

I realized that it is a bit expensive to ship the parts from states. Are some SVX parts suppliers in Europe? UK maybe?
Currenty my list of required parts is quite short:
Couple of tie rod ends (LHD), cover's gaskets, camshafts seals.

But, I found another SVX with brakes problems, where main brake cillinder + all brake disks + pads must be replaced at least.

I will be glad to get any info.

Regards,

Vlad

Re: European SVX parts suppliers

Hi Vlad, generally there are couple ways to get such a parts. As there is almost no aftermarket producer for wide range of SVX`s part I went for US import for more expensive ones and compatible with EURO cars. Less expensive parts I am buying through Subaru dealers. I have some friends there so believe me, they can reduce price for me at roughly 30-35%, so selling with 0% margin. For general availability of most parts I bought second car which was damaged by fallen three for 1 000 EUR and this paid back several times! So my advice is for expensive things go for US shops(not easy if you have no US credit/debit card for payments) and for some smaller supplies things try to convince your dealer he should keep you as a customer and invest some of his margin:-)
Take care and good to know about you at Austria.
BR

Re: European SVX parts suppliers

Hi Vlad and welcome.

I'm based in Ireland and find it is possible to get SVX parts from dealers, but very expensive. For that reason I have sourced many parts from the USA in the past.

I have also got parts from English dealers, as the UK has some stock of parts, but not much and nothing cheap.

Petr's plan of buying a parts car is a good way to go if you can find one.

Joe

Re: European SVX parts suppliers

Hi Joe,

As I wrote, I found one, but it is in good condition to use it as a donor. I would rather spend some money to move it back on track
Subaru dealers here are lazy to find or even sell the parts for my SVX. That is a 3rd week I'm waiting for a response from them.
What about Switzerland? There are a "lot" of SVX there. Do we have somebody present here?

Regards,

Vlad

Hi Vlad

Our Swiss members have not been in touch for some time. The most recent was Bricopassion, who is a native French speaker.

Check post #40 on this page for a few other contacts:

Swiss contacts

Let us know if you get any information from them on parts suppliers. The more information we have on the Network here for members, the better and easier it makes SVX ownership.

Joe

Re: European SVX parts suppliers

Hi Vlad, try also some German dealers - they will be 100% cheaper than Swiss (no custom fees as EU benefit) and if you have some friend running business with company car you can even deduct VAT (not very clear as for law but works for me to lower price:-)). From my experience, there is pretty big bunch of Germans who still have SVXs and Subaru dealers treats you as a customer, believe me, I was asking for quote for lower part of engine across Europe and Germany was the best choice…
Take care and good luck.
Petr
