Re: Speaklers

6" or 6 1/2" up front and 6x9s in the rear. Stay away from a lot of the "big" name brands-sony, pioneer, etc.
All depends on how much you're looking to spend as to what you will get for sound quality

Re: Speakers

I'm looking for really crisp sound quality but don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money

Re: Speaklers

dont go with infinity, i had real bad experiences with them. i blew 3 out of 4 in the same summer and they do not fit inside the panel door trim.

someone in this forum told me to try polk audio compoment for the front , i tryed them and they are nice ,sounds good AND FIT UNDER THE TRIM !!!, cost me about 245$ CA

Your Speaklers are not Speakers.

Re: Speakers

I recently installed a set of CDT HD-62 components up front (6-3/4" woofers), and CDT CL-69X 6x9s in the rears. Everything went into the factory locations, although the factory door speaker mounts were too small to mount the larger woofers in, so I had to make custom baffles out of 3/4" MDF to fit them in the doors. I also got these foam speaker baffles to keep water out of the speakers, and cut large holes in the bottom of the foam to allow air to move and not mess up the sound. The CDT DRT-25 tweeters fit perfectly in the factory locations, with no modifications necessary. It kind of sucked finding places to mount the crossovers, although I finally managed to squeeze them in under the dash - one is mounted to a piece of metal below and to the left of the steering wheel, and the other is mounted behind the glove box. Everything is amplified, of course - they're all connected to a Power Acoustik BAMF 1600/4 4 channel speaker amp that is mounted to one of the rear fold-down seats. It's a cheap amp (and may be upgraded in the future), but gets the job done for now.

The door speakers have no issues with window interference, but I'm betting it's pretty close. I think they are about at the max depth you can run without the windows hitting, even with the 3/4" MDF baffles. They sound awesome, and will rattle the door panels pretty good when you turn them up, too. As soon as I replace my rusty doors, I'm going to install sound deadening in them to hopefully eliminate the rattling.

Re: Speakers

Yeah, I would not recommend using anything from Power Acoustik
Definitely find something better in the future...
Not criticizing you, just trying to inform you that their stuff is not good

haha...yeah, I know. I actually got it as a bit of an experiment. I was originally trying to put the amp under the passenger seat, and it was all I could find that had the power I needed and all the wiring connections and adjustments on one side. This was the most important factor, as that was the only way this idea would work.

Well, the under the seat thing didn't pan out, so I ended up installing it anyway. I had it here already, and all of the wiring is the same regardless of what I put there...so, I figured that if it really sucked I could ebay it and get something else to replace it without doing all that work again.

The thing is...it doesn't really suck. Is it excellent? No, but it's really not that bad either. Better than I expected for $110 shipped brand new, at least.

Will it work and get the job done? Yes, well at least for a little while until the whole thing fails I actually ran a small PA amp (50 watts rmsx2) for awhile and only bought it because it was $30 brand new off ebay. Worked okay but could tell a definite difference in sound when I switched to a different amp. Sold it for $20 a few months ago
