Does the EGR valve have a gasket?
Before I yank mine to clean it, id love to know if I need to order a gasket for it or not. I know some do and some dont, and I dont want to be stuck waiting for one on order. Tried search with no luck.... thanks.
EDIT: Nevermind, finally found one for sale answering my own question. Now one more..... do I NEED a vacuum pump to open it for cleaning or can it be opened using mouth vacuum (didnt want to say suck on it)

Re: Does the EGR valve have a gasket?
Quote:
I just went through the EGR system on my '92 with 160,000 miles and replaced everything. The EGR valve was dirty, but probably OK. The control valve and solenoid were the same. The hose coming out of the control valve was cracked and the control valve to EGR valve hose was kinda loose (I replaced both). What was really bad was the temp sensor, it was all gunked up and was likely the cause of my CEL. I'd tell you to start with that and the hoses... |
