Exclamation Leaking fuel.....HELP!

Ok so I seem to be leaking a rather large amount of gas from the lines coming out of the tank.
Jacked it up and crawled under it.
It looks like at least one of the 3 hard lines coming out of the tank has rusted through. (92 LS-L)
So I guess my question is can I replace them without dropping the tank???
Sice that, as I understand it, would require removing large amounts of hardware from various portions of the car. Including the rear subframe and diff.
I haven't even checked the parts site to see if they still carry them.
But if they do can I just replace them without dropping the tank?

I know you can access them from the access port in the trunk (or under the rear seat) but don't know if you can replace the whole hard lines that way....but might be able to patch the leak with a rubber line that way...

I don't see how you can replace them without dropping the tank. I've got the same problem with my "evil twin." I've got to get her to the shop soon. They DO carry the lines. I've got a full set (rear and front) waiting to be put on. The bad news is, if one is rusted, the others are probably soon to follow. I was trying to repair one line when, while fiddling with another, all the rust fell off and IT started leaking. So...I'm just gonna replace them all. Make sure you order them from the local Suby dealer. It would cost more to ship them than the lines themselves, if you try to have them shipped.

Best of luck.

What others have done is use that access port to feed rubber lines down to bypass the metal lines. If you do this be sure to use hose rated for Fuel injection, use double clamps designed for FI hose, of course be careful to route them FAR from exhaust. It probably would also be a good idea to protect them from abrasion with something as well.

There are a few posts around from when others have done it and I'm sure O-Tom will chime in here soon with other safety tips.

Had similar problem with my 92. After replacing a couple of the fuel lines (rubber part) fuel still leaked. Finally my son (Subaru Tech) took car to work and dropped the fuel tank to discover a piece of road gravel had become wedged between the tank and the body of the car. It wore a hole in the tank. Son patched the tank by melting shreds of hard plastic and smearing it over the hole. That repair lasted almost 2yrs and then had to replace the tank with a used one I found on www.car-parts.com

I would have been a very expensive repair, but I usually just have to pay my son in BEER.
