Stupid transmission question-transfer clutch

Hi all,

Need to ask since I'm ignorant on the matter: Are the duty solenoid and transfer clutch integral parts of the transmission, or can they be removed/replaced independently?

B.

All the transfer clutches & the Duty C solenoid are contained in the removeable tail section of the transmission.

This can be replaced separately.

If you have a 92 or 93 get a reman transmission from subaru with the updated parts and save yourself headaches later.

Shouldnt the tail section of the transmission be interchangable with other subaru 4eat transmissions? If so, it could be a cheap/easy junkyard fix for binding transmissions right?
