Where's the best place to go for a manual swap?
Anywhere in the country? Considering my plans of getting an Opel GT are scratched, I'm thinking about converting to manual, and although I am pretty sure I could do it with fellow gearheads, I don't want a hackjob, I want it done correctly, OEM style, reverse lights working, no grinding, no clearance issues, I want it NICE!
I'd want to keep the stock gear ratios for now, as I love highway cruising. :P So... where's the best place to go? Also, it seems 5spds are pretty easy to get, but are 6spds coming down in price yet, or are they still all around 3 grand? |

6mts are still pricey as ever... they are too popular a buy from imprezza guys nowadays that they will not drop until a better version comes out... well the 07 is better but most won't see the upsides.
A 04-05 wrx 5mt is GREAT. Low cruising rpms... retention of the stock rear. And did I mention strength?? the perfect trans for the SVX. And I can honestly say, there are 3 places to go for 5mt swaps that are known in the US... 1. Small Car- Um... don't even get me or Earl started on their craftsmanship 2. svxfiles- he has only done 1 mt swap which was a 6mt... but this is the hardest mt swap there is, so he knows what he is doing 3. Then you have me I have done 8mt swaps so far and I have assisted in 14 in some way or another. Its gotten to the point that if I devoted an entire day... I could have it done... But 2 days is my record so far. Ask any of the guys who have had me do their swap... Like it came from the factory. Below is a list of people off the top of my head 1. Shotgunslade 2. MikeCG 3. Letitsnow 4. SVXBart 5. JaySVX 6. Ricochet 7. Gest24 They other 1 I have done is my 6mt where it all started Tom |

I'll say that tom's transmission mounts are some of the best I've ever seen... for any car, any level of aftermarket.

I drove my car home last night from tomssvx's garage, with my 5mt newly installed. It was rediculious. So clean, super tight shifting. I defidently couldn't be happier. So many 5speeds i've driven that were sloppy, clutch failing, etc. Not this, it's like driving a brand new car.

Bets bet would be to ship the car and then catch a plane to Philly int. airport when the work is done to pick it up... If you have the space and a fairy decent collection of tools, I have done a 6mt in california and I wouldn't mind getting down to florida
