Rear Diff Identification

I came across these pages out of some Subaru Service Manuals that give codes for determining the ratio of rear diffs, WITHOUT cracking the case. Soob used to make it easy and put a tag on the rear plate that told you what ratio and if it had a LSD.

Now you need to look on top of the case for these ID's
T1 - 3.9
T2 - 4.11
TP - 4.44

These codes are stenciled on the very top of the center rib but on a few I've also seen them written on the top/side with a paint pen.

I've double checked this on about 1/2 a dozen diffs over the past week and they've all been correct.

Enjoy

yeah, he is right on with it too.... We were at Harry's today and we pulled a bunch of rear diff's and all of them matched up with the #'s listed.... Aparently the 4.44 got the TP tag because its the ****.... according to Dave
