Bad news - it seems the tranny on my new '92 SVX is slipping on 3rd I believe, not responding as well as it ought to. Haven't changed any fluids yet or installed the Perma-cool filter and cooler (hope to receive those soon). Only put in a bottle of LUCAS Tranmission Fix, but just a preventive maintenance. Haven't adjusted the bands, so that is in the menu of things to do. Any advice from you guys is really appreciated; shes is too beautiful to let her die...

The brake band may fix it. The brake band isn't a band aid fix, it is the real deal so try it soon and don't drive on that slipping tranny until you adjust the band.

10-4. Here's a pic of the adjustment bolt and lock nut. By the looks of it, do I have enough bolt travel to make the adjustment? It's the first time doing this, so I don't know if it looks OK. Also, I understand I need to immobilizr the lock nut while turning the adjustment bolt.

BTW, just got my tranny cooler and filter kit - hope it helps.

If you mean that you only show a couple threads above the locknut - heck, I don't know. I never payed it any attention. I think you will be fine. What hav eyou got to lose?

Just back off the lock nut - 17 mm IIRC. Once that nut is loose use a small 8mm wrench on that square nut. you will not be able to turn it too much at a time and you'll be doing it mostly by feel but it can be done with patience. The first time you do it you'll be hating life but after that it really is pretty easy.

Remember - disconnect the battery first or you will get a nice lightshow when you drop your 17 on the starter bolt.

actually - here's a good how to on the brake band
