Transmission Resistor & Resistance

I pulled my TCU codes this weekend and found a #11 Duty Solenoid a error. My resistor is shot and I have a few questions. Is the OME resistor optimal for shifting or is there any room for improvement. I have been looking for a resistor with the exact same specs as the OEM with not much luck. Rumor has it the stock resistor is a 20 watt 15 ohm resistor. Should I try the available 25watt 15 ohm, or blow $65 for an oem? I have a Small Car Performance shift kit and would like to know how it effects the resistance on the circuit. When I replace the OEM resistor should I toss the shift kit? I think it may have been a band-aid for my bum resistor. As always, your input is greatly appreciated

Install a 20 Ohm resistor (two 10 Ohms in series) from Radio Shack for $1.50 along with your Small Car shift kit and be happy.

Actually, the 25 watt 15 ohm resistor is a better choice.

it's the same resistance, yet can handle a higher load. [diisipate more heat]

You could also bug all the 5spd owsers for their used resistors

But the stock resistance does not bump line pressure.

Ohhhh. The place I go has a giant range and selection of resistors. I don't go to radio shack for anything.

I live just outside Cumberland Md, population 25,000, in a city(?) of 800 jobs.
Radio Shack is the pinnacle of hi tech here.

And Wal-Mart is known as THE Cultural Center!

That's just a Canadian thing. I forget exactly why it changes, but for some reason, Circuit City wasn't allowed to use the Radio Shak brand in Canada anymore, so now we've got "The Source." They still sell the same garbage, just in rebranded packages. At least you can still buy resistors there.

So what do you call Lowe's in La Vale?

Oh Oh I know, is it the center of the universe for all your home needs?
