Yeah.. they don't do any of the "dirty work" there, but its a cool plant to show of to their buyers who come and pick what they want in their cars...

I really wish that VW had done a better job making the phaeton scream luxury. I think the design is already canned.

Sounds like 'White Post Willy' That crushes Cords, to keep them out of the 'street rodders' hands! His guys can't touch what the average West Virginia street rod shop does on a 'slow' day!!!
They have a super clean 'BOLT ON' shop, but have no real talent! That requires a shop where things get 'DIRTY'

My brother and I cut a 23 t-bucket into 3 pieces, laminated it back together the way the owner wanted it and it was on the Dupont Calender the next year!!
He was expressing a desire for a phaton, so I propped up some cardboard, and 'stretched' his t-bucket into a phaton for a 'photo-op, He KEPT the originals, and I only have the 'memories' .
White Post Willy, and all the other celeb shops, have to buy the stuff and paint it to get anywhere near what we do with a chop saw, a grinder, and God Given Talent!! Our shop is 'dirty' , cluttered, and full of stuff that people want to drive!! Clean is neet, but it doesn't always translate to 'QUALITY'

Yes, I know its a great sedan... but its still a sedan.

Subi-Crosser is right. You can't have a good shop unless you get it really dirty. That doesn't mean you can't clean it spotless every Friday, it just costs more in labor

The pics are only of the assembly. They don't show any pics of the actual manufacturing process. I'm certain it's nowhere near as clean there.

You can "assemble" in your living room!!! If you want to sand blast or paint, That takes a different kind of shop!!
I have 4 different shops. Each one has a different function. I can't weld in 3 of them, can't paint in 2 of them and can't sandblast in any of them ( that is an 'outside task'.!
I want a shop so clean that I can submit photos, but I might have to build number 5 to get that..... It will have black and white checkered tile, white walls and ceiling, and a glass outcrop where the passers-by can see the finished cars!!!! I think I've been here before!!!!!

SVX files has drank beer in 2 of my shops, and looked into at least 1 other...
tom, can you help me build the 'picture perfect' shop?? I don't have the time!!!

Every division of VW must love their marketing people. I mean, when even the manufaturing guys can claim their facility was built under marketing's budget, they must all be happy people.

'Yeah, so we built a factory, and we have nine billion left in the budget because we claimed it all under marketing's tab...but then we had to hire actors to build the cars because we weren't pretty enough.'
