Has anyone tried pulstar sparkplugs?

I bought only one Pulstar plug and installed it in my 10 year old Torro lawn mower. The mower reacted so great that broke all the laws of physics and it went back in time so mowing the front and back yards was done before I even started.

im fairly certain im not the only person on the forum that works at an auto parts store.

interesting thing is, we got pamphlets about trying to upsell these plugs vs. the standard 1.79-8.99 plugs. you can bet i havnt tried to sell these to one single person at those prices. they had alot of interesting info, but i just threw it out like a week ago! wish i hadnt to post the info on here!

Anyhow, they had dyno numbers on certain cars witch had decent power gains, but while you can expect to get an extra 10 or so miles to a tank on your average cars, a few cars like the s2000 and a newer corvette had pretty damn good numbers, and supposedly theres been good results from some optimal running used cars on independed dyno runs. but not worth 50 per pair.


to me, its the same thing as the E3 plugs. EVERY single set of E3's ive sold came back within a few weeks super super dark, or just plain fouled. and every last customer said there was a notable increase in oomph from the butt dyno, but they all said after about 2-3 weeks, theyd mis-fire, or lose massive power. so they all went to standard plugs in the end.

im not sure how a capacitor would help these plugs, seeing as its such a short time between fires (especially figuring cars with multiple 2 plug coils fire both coils/plugs at the same time) and the coil sends out spark every time it fires, not in between, i just dont understand how it could store energy if it only puts out when it fires.... im sure theres something wrong here in my understanding, as companies wouldnt put out these claims without some foundation of truth for fear of massive lawsuits every other day.

all in all, unless someone proves otherwise, im going to call BS on these.

and beleive me, i wont try to get anyone to "upgrade" to these at work...

but id love to hear if anyone has actually tried these! keep in mind, their tests are all on optimal running engines.

btw, as far as i know, my store hasnt sold a single one of these plugs since we started carying them. and were the highest volume sales in our general area excluding milw. and chicago.

In the end, no matter what the company claims, you just cant overcome the laws of physics. Spark energy "stored" is spark energy lost from the combustion..... the most energy you can put out is the energy put in......

In addition to the physics side, I would also ask the manufacturer of these things WHY after 100+ years of automotive manufacturers spending billions on research and design to find ways to increase power and efficiency, that they (Pulstar) are the ones to make this enormous breakthrough with their overpriced sparkplugs.

Could it be that they are just wayyyy smarter than the engineers there, or is it more likely they are trying to sell you their product.

I read this entire thread in hope of info discussed on the best plugs currently being installed in our SVX's. Anyone have experience with NGK 3764 or Bosch BS4503? These both look like state of the art plugs IMHO.

I can say that prolly most of us here will agree that the NGK iridium is the best for your money.

I am going to agree with who ever said the best way to restore the ignition system is to go back with Stock NEW coils. Age does effect things.
And I know I've heard this before on some Car talk deal or in some mag..

Or if there is an after market replacement with higher Voltages.
I am not an engineer but Electricity doesn't just come out of thin air.
You can't get more Out of then what is being put in, it simple doesn't work that way. Anyone who thinks so is a FOOL. There are Several list maintained by the EPA and Consumer reports as there Scam list. I advice anyone before you buy check these sites or Ripoff reports. As my Grand father would say and yes he was an engineer. " oh boy, yet again another joke to play on the wishful thinkers. That if Just a hand full of the products worked, Then we better go connect a hose to the exhaust and save the gas coming out." Or course one is his better sayings was " You can't tell the depth of a well by the length of a pump handle" He generally reserved that one for morons. As soCal has said and gee I've lost count now and he's been right since his FIRST post. Trying to save you money, Time and effort. His advice was Free.

Truth is from what I know about Our ignition system it's Very well designed.
The plugs are a bit pricy but Out of all the stuff I've read I"m sticking to stock plugs. WHY? Because they WORK and do there JOB WELL.

Unless your doing other mods I don't see anythings that's going to improve it.
Other than replacing all the Coil packs and restoring it To LIKE new condition.
I'm sure after many many years things have become a bit tired. Just as I say this I know I need plugs or I hope this will restore what I remember the car preforming at when I bought it. Of course since I've been running Higher Octane gas the mpg keeps creeping up more and more. COugh cough Read the book it says these things for a reason. Then they leave nice reminders on the gas cap under the hood.. IN the service manual.

So if you have a stock setup and you want to get the best bang for your buck. simply replace what's there and what was used. After all it did work for the last 100,000 miles plus.

Kinda like why are tranny's have a drain plug, some little Japanese man said " Dis runs Hot, Put drain plug, change out often" Just use some common sense. I'll gladly put my faith in the Great people on this site who are engineers, mechanics Etc. Who have the background, knowledge, experience and hey if you don't want to listen to that. and you have the money to burn on the bogus products. The only person it hurts are the ones who won't listen.

I think there have been technological advances in spark plug performance. There are new metals in the latest versions of plugs. If anyone knows of links to comparative info on today's newest plugs vs plugs developed 10 plus years ago please post, thanks. Using oem spec parts is not always the best choice or provide the best results.

For corrosion and wear resistance of course..... no magic metals or whats-a-doozles that produce energy exceeding whats input from the coil lol

If you don't recognize the advancement of technology that has occurred in the last 100 years, you all probably still are in the "flat earth" club!

The prices on the Pulstar have dropped to about half the original cost and I love mine!
