Re: Has anyone tried pulstar sparkplugs?
thank you for taking the oppertunity to buy these and try them. I am a firm believer of giving someting a fair shot to see if a new product will work.
Once again thanks for the effort and please report back.

Re: Has anyone tried pulstar sparkplugs?
Pulstar Claim: "Engine horsepower is created from ignition velocity.
Ignition velocity refers to the growth of the combustion flame front, the speed of which determines the amount of energy released from the fuel." Keith asserts: "This actually is pretty simple. Combustion flame front being wider would bring about more eficient fuel burning, not change the time it takes to burn the fuel that is being burned. The octane determines that." Ignition "velocity" means speed, and is not open to subjective interpretation. Also, if you know octane determines the combustion duration, why do you ask about it below? Since WHEN does the energy content of a fuel depend on the speed of which it burns? "Again, they are not talking about the speed that the fuel burns." Please go to Dictionary.com and reference "velocity". A controlled burn of rocket fuel, or the explosion of such, release the same amount of energy, just in a different amount of time. "The SVX ain't exactly a rocket." Just an example, now you're nitpicking Also, there's another term for an engine combustion that's too fast.... knocking/detonation. "See above..." See "velocity" reference at Dictionary.com The purpose of octane in unleaded fuel is to REDUCE the speed of combustion, which allows for more ignition advance. "I thought that was an environmental thing" I quote you directly from your prior post "Combustion flame front being wider would bring about more eficient fuel burning, not change the time it takes to burn the fuel that is being burned. The octane determines that." They do not state anything about being "wider" in their claim Keith, again, "velocity" is the key word. |

Re: Has anyone tried pulstar sparkplugs?
I completely agree with SoCal on this one. This is just a scam. I feel bad that anyone spent their hard earned money on these. But if anyone here feels compelled to waste money on beliefs that defy the laws of physics go ahead. Buy the tornado air crap thing and the magnets for the fuel lines too.

Re: Has anyone tried pulstar sparkplugs?
Im just basically saying that the coil-on-plug design allows almost no current loss to the electrodes as it is, and the laws of physics say you cannot get more energy out than you put in, period.
Which is most likely: Carmakers, with multi-million dollar budgets in research and development, in their quest to have the best HP and fuel economy ratings, were just too stupid to figure out slapping a capacitor in a sparkplug makes all this extra horsepower and economy, or..... Pulstar wants to sell you something, albeit at probably 800% mark-up? I am all for improving the way my car runs and performs, but the more I read into their claims and how it works, it becomes apparent the plugs are marketed toward the vast majority of the people who know nothing about engine dynamics, and are desperate to save gas with current prices. I dont mean this as an insult to anybody who bought them, I just would prefer to deter anyone else from paying the hefty price they ask under questionable claims. |

Re: Has anyone tried pulstar sparkplugs?
This also plays on some peoples logic that "if its that expensive it must be great". That's how companys just like Bose survive. They turn insanely huge profits on their gear. They don't even publish the specs on their stuff. I guess they don't have too though because people buy them anyway.

Re: Has anyone tried pulstar sparkplugs?
I installed these over the weekend. No "wow" factor really. Car seems to feel a little more alive down low. Other than that not much. I know i always get about 23mpg going back and forth to school. When I do fill up again I will note any mileage changes. I don't really feel the money pinch as I got all 6 plugs for $67 but anyone who would pay $125 i would think is nuts.

Re: Has anyone tried pulstar sparkplugs?
I hear you about the full price deal... People come in to work and buy them for their dodge trucks with V10's... I always want to bring them back down to earth... It will take a lot more than plugs to get more than 8mpg in one of those lol

Re: Has anyone tried pulstar sparkplugs?
DOH!! My AAA allows for (1) 200 mile tow, then up to 3 100 mile tows, just in case I used up my other AAA, non-premier account dragging my SVX around during my Reno debacle. Indespensible to have for our cars. At any rate:
