Re: Just how cold is it?

It was so cold here today I had trouble starting the motorcycle to ride to work... took like 8 kicks. I guess point systems have issues with a high around 12. I won't be riding to work tomorrow morning either as I still haven't put the winter plugs in the Nighthawk and I know I won't get it to fire or stay running coming down from highway speed to idle.

Currently a nice 6 outside here. I'll be outside loading skiers in a few hours.

Re: Just how cold is it?

Interesting thing occurred with me a month ago: It was about -20, just had a good snowfall, and some friends and I decided to swing by a little "track" we discovered for some closed-circuit fun. Over time I packed the bumper full of snow, and when I hit the outside temp button it actually read +14. (That's in C, so maybe a 55-60 degree F difference.) Then the coolant temp gauge tried to shoot for the moon. I jumped out and dug all the snow out of the bumper and it immediately fell back to normal.

I hope it was cold enough the past two days to freeze a certain lake so we can go car skating tomorrow

Yeah but now they are saying that global warming causes "unseasonable weather" and that this cold weather is caused by the melting ice caps cooling currents in the ocean now if that were the case, the cold weather will cause the ice caps to freeze again, right? Damn hippies...

Re: Just how cold is it?

Is there global warming? sure... But not to the extent that Al gore would like you to believe. Its only natural with more people and items generating heat there is going to be an increase but it is not as dramatic as purposed. My sociology professor went off one day because of a smart comment. He produced a document compiled by meteorologist saying there is a warming trend but not global warming to the extreme extend often thought. Wish I could find that document again .

It's not global warming anymore, it's just "climate change".

Re: Just how cold is it?

Its all just an agenda that people want you to believe so they can make a name for themselves and thats about it...
Look how Ralph Nader became famous and propelled his political career by claiming the unsafety of the Chevy Corvair. After a few years, he himself openly admitted it was only for his own betterment and that the car was not that radically unsafe as he claimed.

Cold enough to see my breath everytime I breathe (even through my nose). Like I'm smoking. I like winter, but not like this.
