Headlights

So for a while now I've been dealing with having inadequate light coming from my headlights. I figured I just needed to change the bulbs as they were kind of old and maybe had dimmed over time. Today I finally changed the bulbs and found that didn't really make any difference.

I also discovered that the lights have a multiple setting control. I tried adjusting this thinking that maybe this was the problem the lights weren't very bright, but found turning the control didn't do anything. Maybe the light setting control is broken? I'm not really sure. Any ideas why my headlights are so dim?

PS: I put in sylvania xtravision lights #9006

PPS: never mind about the light setting thing. fooling around with it at night revealed that all it does is change the light level of the gauges and clock.

Re: Headlights

What do you mean light setting control??? Are you talking about the thing you can turn that is the dimmer for the instrument cluster?

Re: Headlights

Try parking about 5ft. away from a wall on level ground and use the levels on the lights to aim the so that both lights on the wall are level with each other. Also are you headlights fogged/yellowed? If so use so headlight restorer on them.

A Mini-Meet would be neat - I live in Winchester, to the West of you. I used to live in Herndon about five years ago .....

Re: Headlights

I got the sylvania ultra night vision lights, it made a lot of difference over stock...it's actually whiter white. It didnt hurt that I also cleaned the lenses with this clear plastic cleaner from autozone...I forgot the name, but it's in the garage somewhere.

Re: Headlights

Hey yeah, definately guys, lets set this up! Dominus, almost certain its the yellowing/hazing of your headlights. I had the same issue, got to the point where I had to put my brights on just to see normally! I ended up purchasing brand new OEM headlight housings, wow, what a difference. - Chris
