The key word here is SIMPLY. Tom changed over Wikedjuggalo's fwd to awd, but you'd have to talk to one of them to get the details and pricing information.

Re: SVX Parts Central is open for business

If your ring gear sheered, I do have a good ring and pinion from a fwd. the spider gears are bad but that isn't too common. Also, shipping would not be bad for just sending the ring gear and pinion shaft...

It still hurts thinking of the pricing I kid.. It was probably not enough for the great work.

Simply you need a rear subframe is the big piece missing. I went 5spd so no TCu for me but you would need a AWD TCU.

Or you can just weld some metal into the FWD subframe and drill a hole for the rear diff studs and nuts like I saw some idiot do on youtube when he converted a fwd to AWD manual and turboed the car.

Re: SVX Parts Central is open for business

Thanks for all the responses! I am curious as to where the 4.44 gears come from. Is there an impreza tranny that has a lower gear ratio than the stock fwd?

Ther is a lot on here about the "4.44 swap" procedure. The tranny comes from certain years of Outbacks (again, I don't know the specifics but I'm sure you could easily find out) and you have to swap out the rear end gears for the LSD, but it's become the most common way to "fix" a blown stock SVX tranny. It takes about a day if you know what you're doing and the trannys are relatively inexpensive and plentiful.

Re: SVX Parts Central is open for business

Shoot--I have a bad 94 FWD tranny in storage in Oklahoma that has a good diff. You should be able to find one like that somewhere in TX--hopefully close to you.

The FWD is a 3.70 where as the stock AWD SVX is 3.54. All FWD in the US is 3.70

Re: SVX Parts Central is open for business

But the front diff gears out of any 4EAT will go into the FWD tranny....but 4.44's in a FWD will be a tire spinning beast...
