My kids loved him also. Hopefully people wont be ignorant and start killing stingrays, this is what Steve Irwin was trying to teach everyone, that animals are simply protecting themselves.

It's not all that unexpected, but I feel very sad for his wife and very young kids.....

I saw a stingray steal a guys wallet in Maryland once (not a joke), but I didn't think they could kill you. I always thought the tail was for moving around, not stabbing .

I know i wasnt the only one that wasnt expecting this guy to die of old age/natural causes

infact, we had a joke of him waking up in a hospital and he asked the nurse "Did i come in here to die?" to which the nurse smiled and said, "no, you came here yesterday"

.... its funnier if you were reading in an aussie accent....

though a stingray is a bit of an ironic way to go... thats like getting killed by a petting zoo critter (i touched a ray once at an aquarium when i was like 9)

but really they need to put up a statue at his zoo. he brought a ton of awareness to animals and the environment, and did nothing but good for most everyone, its hard to find something bad to say about him really, he was a totally positive guy.
