Is this tire in good enough shape to buy?

Hey all, I'm looking to buy a used tire (Pirelli pzero nero M+S) to replace one on my current wheels...my current treadwear is 8/32nds

ive found this one on ebay that matches....but im not sure how worried about this "damage" on the side of the tire that i should be....take a look at the bottom of this page and let me know! Thanks!

Chunks missing from the sidewall, is not a good thing although I have seen worse than that being driven on. If I was you I would buy it and mount it in the back.

I would buy it as well. However, don't mount it in the back (due to potential of screwing up your lsd), but mount it in the front as that is an open diff.

Those cuts in the sidewall don't look very deep, appear to be superficial.

i saw that kind of damage all the time at work as long as the bead its riped it wont do a thing...

I would mount it on the rear.

My wife drove about 15-20 miles on a flat right rear tire through some mountain twisties, I know she wasn't going slower than 45 mph. When she heard the noise and figured out what was wrong, the sidewall was gone. There was probably less than 8" of connecting material between the tread and the bead, nice big holes to be able to inspect the inside of the tire.

If the tire had been on the front, I think we would probably have found her in the bottom of some ravine.

As far as the potential of screwing up your lsd, you can adjust the rolling circumference by playing with your air pressure.

Just my $.02.
