Car kills for ½ a second and then goes

Does it whenever it wants to and just started doing it. Doesn't matter if cold or hot. You can be driving along and it will just act like the key was shut off for ½ a second and then back on but the power doesn't go off and the car comes back running. Has done this a few times yesterday while I was out running around for parts.

Guessing it must be fuel related somehow, maybe a flaky pump?

This morning I drove it in and it didn't miss a beat.

It's kinda entertaining reading the issues people have with these cars. And they were how much brand new???? lol Oh well, guess the best way to fix it is to drive it till it stops for good and then trouble shoot it. Always nice to have a back up car, mine just happens to be an XT. God must be laughing at me by now.

Shaky connection to #2 crank sensor?

What year is it? If a 92, it could just be the noise suppression circuit still exists in your ECU. Does it happen as you partially accelerate?

Mine got so bad I actually disconnected the #2 (driver side) knock sensor and it doesn't do it quite as often but still very problematic. should have the new sensor in friday or saturday. Oh and mine has gone as far as stalling out the engine.

Yup it's a 92

How do you find all these sensors? Guess I better start looking around the How to area again.

It did stall the car once at a stop light but most of the time it's just running down the road and it doesn't matter if under load or not. I went to leave the stop light and stepped on the gas and thought WTH? Car is so quiet and rides to nice for me. I didnt even notice it died. LOL

Passenger is just behind laft of the alternator and the driver side is about halfway under the intake....if you look through the smaller engine cover holedown to the side and front about 2-3 inches inward from the middle runner thats where it will be. the connection for that one is under a cable set right at the back edge of the block...theres another thread with a couple of pics. I'll see if i can find you a link.... http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=28940

High price does not always equal high quality....just ask a Jaguar owner!

My money is on a cam or crank sensor. If that is the case, you run the risk of your engine completely dying one day and not starting back up.

Well I think I have crap in the tank

It did it again and I noticed I was just under ¼ tank. I filled the car and it did it a few times more. Sat over night and no problems again until I got down to that ¼ tank mark again. Is it easy to drop the tank?

I don't know about the svx but on multiple cars that I have done some have a plastic sheild to come off then two metal band holding the tank its self. Otherwise there should be soime wire running to it may have to disconnect them first.

It's not hard...if you don't mind removing the exhaust, driveshaft and possibly half the interior.

Ok after replacing the O2 sensor and knock sensor(only took me like half an hour cause I gots long and skinny hands :P) it was still stalling bad (BTW both were in bad shape and needed to be replaced anyways) It finally showed a CEL for the MAF sensor so taking adivice I'm cleaning it tonight with white vineger to hope that I don't have to replace it (No moneys, Please donate)And after unplugging the MAF it no longer died barely hestistated and didn't do any of the crap that it was doing before.....Why all 3 showed at once is beyond me.
