Showering should not be optional! Don't make me get out the fire hose.

Roughing it is staying at a place without HBO.

Every time I've gone camping its poured rain - I didn't need to shower, my tent turned into a pool. Gotta love Seattle summers.

Oh wait - there was one time when it didn't rain! When I was igloo camping in Canada it just snowed a lot instead.

I lent my tent to my sister and now she's keeping it, she says I never get to use it anyhow, since I always end up sleeping in the car to get out of the downpour.

Good to see there is still some discussion!

I think it is indeed a good idea to get the discussion going a year in advance, even if there isn't a ton of response. The key is start early, and keep the momentum going. The most successful model to follow in the SVX world to date is the 10th anniversary meet, and for that one planning started 3 years in advance.

From what I hear, Reno 04 was a great first attempt at getting the WHOLE western region together for one meet. I think the biggest reason attendence was not what was orginally expected was the long periods of no communication, and then when communication did start up again, it seemed the dates changed (at least to me, and I read these forums everday so...) and then some of the activities fell through (probably by no fault of the planners, but by lack of commitment by the populace, but that goes back to lack of constant communication, it's a big circle...).

It's good to hear that those that did make it had a good time though, and are inspired to keep it going now. The events will get better and better, more and more members will come each year, and pretty soon you have a western "Reading" meet, the kind of thing people make a point to come to or miss out on the fun and traditions. It will come in time if we all stick to it.

BTW - 13 SVXes in one place..... it happened at Dabob this weekend, it has happened at several of our past Washington SVX meets, and the numbers have come pretty close to that in the Bay Area and CO too I believe. So that just shows there is a lot more potential in this half of the U.S., we just need a bit more motivation. Go team!

MacGyver, that "Go team!" puts into my mind the disturbing image of you in a cheerleader outfit.

Not to get off topic, but Dustin's last post shows us how desperate he is for attention from a woman. What happened to that chick who gave you her number???

On a more serious note, has a solid place been set yet. I would like to know sometime soon. I think West Yellowstone would be fun, but would rather see The Tahoe area due to it's scenic qualities.
