BTW...

What is the difference between "outta control" and "unchangeable drift"??

arondale
Well actually what I meant was that in an "outta control slide or spin" you kinda go where ever "physics" takes you... But in the slid that happened to me I managed to counter steer enough to keep from spinning in circles but not enough to correct the slide... I would have been alot more happy with NO SLIDE OR SPIN... But hey when I look at it I'm very glad that things happened the way they did. Thanks for all the comments...

BTW... The Dragon Vidoe on NASIOC has the wreck in it too...

"unchangeable drift" would be a slide initiated through understeer (front wheels slipping). Understeer, even though it is a loss of control, is more controllable as your car wouldn't be doing a bunch of 360's in the road. "outta control" would therefore be a slide initiated by oversteer (rear wheels slipping).

From Chris' acct of the accident, it seems like he understeered for most of the slide, and only oversteered at the very end.

I think I probably described it wrong... However,
Hehehehe, Believe me when I say that "This suspension just Doesn't understeer". Especially with a lighter front end that came about from doing the 5 MT swap. It feels alot like driving a big Miata .

I reccon that with better tires like Falken Azenis ( They don't make them in 18's!!! :bad: ), or Potenza S03's, or RE950's, or Perelli P-Zero Nero's... I should have been able to get outta any trouble that I got into with the Supra712's... I did like though that the 712's "talked to ya" and kinda told ya when they are getting close to thier limit... Other than that though, I don't really reccomend them to anyone that is into performance driving.

Porter gave it a "Performance Alignment"... That consisted of -1.5* camber in the front and the rear sat so low that the control arms were paralell to the ground. Looked like about -1.0* of suspension indused camber in the rear. I beliefe there was alittle bit of toe in added to the front wheels though I'm not sure. I probably shouldn't have said that it "Never understeered"... I'm sure it did once or twice. But just let me say that that Friday and Saturday I had NEVER had so much fun in a car EVER!!! Even though I was shaking when I wrecked, it wasn't from being scared but from all the adrenaline that was in my system!!! It was a BLAST!!! Then when I came down off my "High" and realized what had really happened, that's when the depression kicked in.. .... I would highly reccomend the Koni/GC suspension to anyone that wants to DRIVE their car...

Crap tires, but at the speeds you were traveling, I don't think it much mattered.

Those are some nasty pics man. Any frame damage on the beast? Can't wait to see her rebuilt.

From what I've heard there was minimal frame "tweakage"... Almost no damage behind the radiator. I guess I came out really lucky

Definitely lucky, I think if you were in a smaller car, you would have been in trouble.

On another note, ever seen frame tweakage in action? Kinda crazy to see. It invovles a couple of chains to carress the frame back to shape.

Haven't seen a frame being straightened yet... But I guess I'll see it soon enough huh ...
