Prices of parts in the UK (again !!)
It seems International Motors (the official Subaru Licencee in the UK) have us British owners by the short and curlies again..........
Looking to change the front brake rotors on our '96 SVX, they have been on a long as we've owned the car (about 45k miles), they have a bit of run-out on the inside edge, and the car has developed a front end "drone" under braking and part throttle crusing (don't even want to consider front diff/axle problems at the moment !!). Anyway, genuine part price : £164 each plus 17.5% tax (approx $260 each !!) Compared to Subarupart.com : $110 each plus tax. Best price I have got for pattern parts is £60 each plus tax. I realise these were expensive cars to buy new, but that is just old fashioned robbery !! At least Dick Turpin wore a mask !! Sorry for the moan, but I had to tell someone !! Phil.

Don't forget the £75 ($133) per hour labour charges from their dealers.
Many of whom have never seen an SVX let alone received any training on how to fix one. Good thing you own a set of spanners. |

oh my, that labor price is insane. that's more than double the labor prices in the US. i think the labor price is between $55-$65 here although i have been known to be wrong.
also is it easy to ship parts into the UK? |

Don't forget the old trick of stating the '1st hour' labor rate. Subsequent hours can be higher (known as "pricing on the matrix.")

Resurface?
I was thinking the same thing--also thinking that 45K miles is really not very many on rotors unless you ride the brake. I shudder to think of your prices though---wow. I thought our prices were high, so I do much of my work, but I see we are not even in the same league.
