Digital temperature gauge

First picture of my digital transmission fluid temperature guage. Normal "at rest" temperature is 160F-170F on a warm day. Under hard driving it may be 180F, with spikes up to 200+ once I stop the roadway shenanigans and the airflow rate through the cooler decreases.

The guage was purchased from Dakota Digital ( http://dakotadigital.com/Detail.cfm?...umber=ODY-08-3 )

Nice choice

If you wanted to (it takes some work and isn't perfect) you can put the gauge there the change holder is.

Here's my install:

Soooooo tempting. I can also see that somebody had to park their car outside for the night.

It reads that temp if it 40 deg F or so. It doesn't have to be outside to read that temp. It isn't real accurate at the lower temps.

That was the change holder? I'd wondered what it was.

My car is always outside. I live at an apartment. At the time the picture was taken it was in my dad's garage the same time the Stebro was installed.

That's pretty similar to what I want to do, Dave - except that I want to use the coin holder as a matching bezel for the gauge. Did you have to cut the panel at all?

I did not have to cut anything however I did have to take the gauge partially apart to mount it to the panel and the gauge must be installed on the panel while it is off the car. This results in the right side of the panel to not be bolted on and is being held in place only by the clips.

i don't know how or where your temp sensor is mounted, but....
mine was mounted in a Permacool external filter, under the battery (near the engine.) ambient heat from the engine was giving it some false (high) readings. i wrapped the sensor with aluminum-backed foam tape to shield it from the heat. i noticed a 10-15 degree drop in tranny fluid temps after that.

Mine is located right before the inlet to the radiator.
