Instrument panel trim questions
Hey guys. I was working on taking off the trim around my instrument panel and I removed the dummy button next to the security button, but it slipped out of my hand and I dropped it, where it then rolled into the gap between the steering wheel and bottom dashboard where the suede is, where I never saw it again.
Does anyone know how to open the bottom of the dashboard where the suede is? It's killing me that I can't figure out how to open it. I only saw one screw at the bottom but it only loosened it a little. Also, I'm having trouble putting the instrument panel trim back (with the clock). it seems to get stuck in the right side where the clock and the vent are. Is there a trick to putting it back on?

You know what this means? It's a sign from the lord that thy must install a real switch where the dummy one was. :P
seriously, I'd say its a good excuse to add another 'feature' to your SVX. - Ca$h |

There isn't anything about taking the instrument panel apart that Lwin (Seraph) doesn't know.
If he doesn't respond, you might email or PM him.

To remove trim..
Take out that little plastic screw at the bottom, it's one of those "spread and retain"" type of jobbies.
Remove connector to the bulb that lights your feet up and the summer/winter wiper switch. Prise out mirror control and park/mirror heater switch and disconnect both. Under one of those is the only bolt that secures the trim on. Now, even though you've got that bolt out, there are two plastic retainer tabs one each side of the steering column. With a little luck you can pull on the trim and it'll pop, but I had to get my finger in behind them to pop them out. You can remove the steering column plastic to make this alot easier (but that is a PITA as well).... If you need any more particulars, PM me. Cheers |

If you are referring to the panel with the change holder/OBD-II plug (depending on year) there's 2 bolts holding it in.
one is behind the change holder and the other is behind the mirror switch/fog light switches. All of those should pry out (carefully). The panel itself is also clipped in but should pop off once the 2 bolts are removed.

I think Lwin has a "How To" in his locker on the removal of the dash. You might check there.

Removing Heater Control ?
Anyone ever pulled this out ? Mine has a few burnt out bulbs and would like to replace them. I've got the bulbs from RS, but not sure how to get at them. It appears they install from behind the unit.
