Texas Help Needed!

A fellow SVXer from Texas, whom I'd met at the 10th anniversary meet, called me the other night. I'd given him a card with my phone number on it. If I recall correctly, he has replaced his RR bearing twice in 95K miles (the first time, shortly after he bought the car NEW in St. Louis). He stated that he let the bearing go for much too long the first time, so, my guess is that the inner surface of the knuckle is the culprit.

Anyhoo, he's in Dallas and is looking for a knowledgable and reliable technician to A) tell him (honestly) if there's a problem with the knuckle, and B) replace the bearing for (hopefully) the last time.

He had searched the shop search (although he hasn't been able to log onto the Network Forums yet -- he's admittedly computer challenged) and found nothing.

Can any of you Texans help a guy out with a reliable tech? If not, he'll be in St. Louis over the Memorial Day weekend and said he'd not mind driving to Louisville from there to have Beav do the deed (since I'd spoken of him so highly). Obviously, if he could get reliable help in Dallas (or surrounding area), it'd be much better for him to make the trip to St. Louis on a new bearing.

Any help would be appreciated.

There was a Subaru master tech (named Billy, if I remember correctly) at the Subaru dealer in Austin (about 200 miles south of Dallas) who is an SVX owner and supposedly knows his stuff. I don't know if he's still there or not, but it should be easy to check.

A bit of of a drive, but I offer it as an option. Texas ain't exactly a hotbed of SVX action.

Thank you, Dick. I'll pass along the info. Actually, he was ready to drive to Tucson, AZ, just to find someone knowledgable. I'll pass it along, in case he wants to pursue it.

Also, thank you for not pointing out that I had misspelled Texas. You are a gentleman. Erstwhile, the error has been corrected.

BTW, would that be Austin Subaru, or Gillman Austin Subaru?

Thanks for the compliment, Randy. I spared you because of our Young-Johnson connection. Others might not be so fortunate.

It was Austin Subaru. Gillman's a carpetbagger from San Antone, not a REAL Austin dealer.

Significant Technical Input
I'm so confused (still)

Can y'all explain this young johnson connection? I know I'm not as old as Randy, but someday I will be and maybe I'll need one of them too.

You'll have to ask Randy. It's . . it's . . . well, I just can't talk about it. Something to do with little blue pills.

Inasmuch as we all three seem to have similar senses of humor, there could also be a Young Beaver connection, or a Johnson Beaver connection or . . . okay, that's enough.
