Thank God I didn't drive my SVX today.
I went out to my XT6 for lunch today and some idiot at work decided to tow 10 or so employee's cars (my XT was one of them). After cooling down by yelling at the parking guy for a few minutes I checked the outside carefully for damages. 2 nice scuff marks under the bumper. Get in and start it. The steering light comes on and I have no PS, the transmission whines at low speeds and it has a real hard shift into second and get this the pass side window isn't working now. Went to the safety office to fill out the incident report. I'm quite pissed and they are screwing around about getting me a rental and comping me the time to take it to the dealer I deal with an hour away. At least I didn't drive the SVX which I was so tempted to do with the decent day we have then they'd be looking at a $9000 new transmission.

Holy cow! I'd be furious! Why exactly did some guy at work decide to tow 10 or so employees cars? For practice? Poop's and giggles? Parking in handicapped zones? Something weird about the whole thing I just don't get. Please explain.

Towing
Yeah it sounds weird but keep in mind Manheim has 6000+ cars on a big exotic, 7000+ for a friday sale. All these cars go from a secure lot to onto a truck or into customer strorage, etc after the sale. Its a huge nightmare. I simply park where I'm told to just as I did this morning. Apparently someone in the Logistics dept decided that these spaces needed to be emptied. Why who knows.

Doesn't any idiot tow truck driver know not to front haul a 4 wheel drive without a dolly at least (even though WE know that they should be flat bedded) ? Should not the tow truck driver be held responsible for the damage to a drive train?
Just questions... not pointing a finger at anyone (except the dumb#ss tow truck driver!!!! )

Its not even 4wd but I've watched some of these tow truck drivers. They drop the hook when its still 2 feet of the ground. Granted they're towing 50 cars a day and have to get to the next one but a personal car is still a personal car. When I got in it the steering wheel was locked all the way to one side. Took me a bit to loosen it enough to even start it. Noticed a new problem (which I just got fixed) the linkage is also screwed up again and it has trouble finding a good spot to start.

Manheim Auto Auction
this is so weird all thes SVX people in Lancaster. I grew up there and never once saw any SVX's. 8 years ago everyone and their sister dipped through Longs park in their lead sleads or in lancaster city everyone had a corolla.
Sorry about your car though. |
