Lightbulb Gauges, Gauges, Gauges!

OK. I want to put in some guages in my 92' SVX. I have a high current stereo so was thinking a Volt meter or an Ammeter would be nice. I'd want digital but then the readout (unless live) would flicker too much. Another neat gauge would be the o2/fuel gauge being sold at Motorsport Warehouse Click Me . But there is a problem. I want all of this to fit in a one din space. I put in an aftermarket deck (of course) and have the leftover din underneath it. What gauges would look good and fit there? Also, if anybody has a good recomendation for a volt or amp meter that is analog but lit well, do tell.

-Scott

P.S. Links or pictures are always appreciated.

I have VDO guages in my 2nd DIN. 99% of the people who get in my car think they are Stock. The VDO Visions match the stock guages so closely it's un-real.

I then moved them to the A-Pillar using a gauge pod for a 95-99 Eclipse/Talon.

Everyone here knows that I am a strong proponent of keeping things stock, but, dang, Mike, that's an excellent job. Looks great! If I ever decide to come over to "The dark side" I might just ask for some pointers.

Oh a note on my guages...

The left most one say "water" it's really the ATF Temp Guage. For the VDO Guages the ATF Temp one was outside our operating range.

I am like Aredubjay, love to keep things stock, that's why I took about 4 months to figure out where to put them that would keep it as stock as possible.

Can you provide some info like name, p/n, etc for those gauges? They looks sweet. Were you able to use the OEM senders?

They are Equus #6005 Triple Gauge kit. I only used the Temp and Oil Pressure and threw out the ammeter. They were about $30 at Wal Mart. I chose cheap gauges because I don't need them to be accurate, only to show changes, plus I didn't know how well they would fit so I wasn't about to drop a ton of money on them.

They come with their own senders since they are mechanical. You have to add T fittings with the stock sensors so they can work in cooperation with the stock electric sensors.

Here's a photo of the gauge package.

Nice install in the dash.

If you used the VDOs (which cost about $125 for all 3 with senders) they'll look totally stock.

Doug,

Thanks for the info. I'll look into it. Tonight when I get home, I need to find out what are the function of those two SVX icons are in my owners manual.

The stock sensor is on the top of the engine on the passenger side. If you have really nimble hands, you can get in there to install a "T" fitting.

I used copper tubing from the "T" fitting to the back of the engine and then switched to the supplied plastic tube to avoid any melting problems with the tube on the engine.
