Starter relay question

My 92 LSL has started having the intermittent start problem.
I've read most of the threads on the relay mod and will do it when the weather permits.
I would like to know if the relay in question is the starter inhibit relay?
If so, does anyone have the oem part number for it?
Thanks.

Re: Starter relay question

It's just a regular relay, nothing special that you need part number. Should be able to tell your parts person you need a Bosch relay with five blades and be fine. You really only need four but the original has five.

Re: Starter relay question

This was posted about 4 years ago for the relay under the dash;Bosch part# 0332204150.

However Summit racing says it is unavailable and wants to replace it with Bosch Part # 0332209150

Re: Starter relay question

It's not plug and play? Is there how-to?

This should help.
Really what you do is mount a relay
Remove the wire on the solenoid and hook to relay
Run a new wire from relay to where you just removed that wire from.
Add 12 volts to the relay.

Re: Starter relay question

I just changed the one under the dash. I'll see how that works.
When I have more time I'll do the other mod.

Re: Starter relay question

Installing a starter relay fixes it, as shown in the previous post.hopefully the pix will show up for you. If not send me a pm with your phone # and I'll send pix. Its a piece of cake. Some wire, the right connectors and a relay and all is better,in the meantime be sure battery is fully charged.

Re: Starter relay question

Now I'm confused, there are two relays? Does the one under the hood piggyback the one under the dash or bypass it. If the one under the dash is bad shouldn't one just replace it before adding another?

The second (after market mod) relay ensures full battery voltage to the starter solenoid. The default wiring can result in less than enough voltage to pull in the solenoid. The mod fixes the "clickity click" problem.

Re: Starter relay question

Check out my locker. You will see "starter relay bypass mode diagram"
Also check "fix the click click" you will see instructions and some photos of installations.
