1-2nd hard shift fix (kind of)

So we all know that most of these cars develop a hard 1st to 2nd shift and that it's totally normal, but it still bothers me. A couple years ago I did the power mode switch mod, and it seemed to shift a little better in it. I decided to just leave it in power mode all the time, and I left it like this for months. Now, whenever I turn power mode off, the car shifts flawlessly. I was in LA traffic for 2 hours today and it shifted rough maybe once or twice. I wouldn't necessarily call it a fix, but I think forcing the TCU into power mode almost made the car learn how to shift better. Call me crazy, but I think it worked.

Do you have an auxiliary cooler on your transmission? I would bet money that your hard shifts were a result of excessively high transmission temps from sitting in traffic. When the fluid gets hot, it can really make the transmission do some odd things.

Is there a "preferred" method/location for installing these? Is it still recommended with the 4.44 swap? Would it still be helpful with an ECU Tune TCM and valve body?

Mike, I DO have a transmission cooler. I had a couple rough shifts as opposed to a rough shift every time I accelerated :P I meant it as a good thing!
