StrongFlex Poly Bushings feedback.

Ordered the ft/rr poly yellow bushings(swaybars) from this company doing business in Poland. Arrived today taking only 8 days to arrive here on the east coast of the US.

Bushings had enclosed clamps not compatible with the SVX mounting sites..the rear OEM clamps have angled captured nuts while the SF clamps would need a bolt/nut of their own to mount and have end flanges bent..a moot point since they are too long anyway.

The front bushings were a "cluster fudge"...sent wrong part number (part # on bushing not same as Invoice) ..1/4" too tall and the hole was 17 mm..again the stock clamps have a shorter front arm and captured nuts. The SF clamps lacked those features.

Rears went in fine with stock clamps. I have cut down the ft. bushings by 1/4" and bored out the hole to 18mm. Fortunately the width is OK.

Parts also came with 2 packets of red syn lube.

Cost..$75.05 shipped. While they are pretty much the only game in town for the other suspension poly pieces, I had hoped things would have gone more smoothly with just getting the swaybar bushings. I could have gotten local bushings which would have needed modding for less.

Should've gotten some from Earthworm. Shipped from Canada and $55.
I bought a set of fronts from him and OH MAN do they make a difference!

Re: StrongFlex Poly Bushings feedback.

If I had only wanted the swaybar bushings, you're right. But I wanted to see what StrongFlex was all about since I was thinking of going the full replacement route. Won't be doing that order with StrongFlex obviously now..can't see how a company would shipped clamps that don't remotely resemble the stock ones..a mistake in sending the wrong part is more understandable.

Anyway, after modifying the front/rear sways with poly's, got everything back together..nice change in turn in characteristics and noticeable decrease in body roll while my stock struts/springs keep compliance and adhesion very good.

OK - what have you done to let them know that they either sent the wrong ones OR have made the wrong ones???.

Tell them that you are part of this forum & would like them to send you the right ones for free / you will send the others back once you are happy......

Only this sort of feedback will aid others in the future.

Surteess... I took photos of the OEM front bushings and the StrongFlex bushings after they claimed the "right" part was sent. Also sent comparision pix of the OEM clamps and their clamps. I included measured lengths in mm's at points of difference. Awaiting a reply...was anxious to get the SVX back on the road and didn't feel like a trans-Atlantic repeat of shipping so I whacked down their front bushings to OEM sizes and installed where they are functioning nicely.

Will let the forum know what StrongFlex has to say.....

Re: StrongFlex Poly Bushings feedback.

That's for sure..as far as being the "only game in town". I think I will still go for a few of the yellow grade rear trailing arm bushings to tighten things up back there. Would like to get that SVX rearend to think about oversteering every now an then....would approach neutral handling at that point.

Re: StrongFlex Poly Bushings feedback.

I had the yellow strongflex full bushing kit put in years ago. 22 pcs I think. They were not not lubed up and squeaked really bad. now I am getting a popping sound coming from I think one of the bushings that may have cracked. My cv axles are fairly new and in good condition. I would like to replace the full suspension bushings with the original rubber if possible. I s there any other bushings available. Can I get the full oem rubber bushings from Subaru. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Mike

Re: StrongFlex Poly Bushings feedback.

Howdy...no longer an SVXer after the poor girl's heart (motor) packed it in !!

Sold her Feb. of this year to a young fellow who works for a local Subie Dealer but haven't heard if he revived her as he exuberantly claimed he was planning.
