Stance GR+ done

Well after getting inspired by a few of the other members here that used the stance coilovers I decided to follow...

The lack of communication and updates with amr suspension had me a little gun shy and the money i save with the sti suspension will help offset the cost and give me an excuse to buy a few new tools.

I also bought the 05/07 suspension with 7k/5k spring rates $1080 shipped

I just searched and I need to thank SMC and crazypilot for taking the time to post their swaps !!!

Re: Stance GR+ done

I lowered the front around between .75 and 1 inch which gives me a stance I am fairly happy with and the control arms are still even. The strut body bracket needs to be widened to atleast 28mm to fit the svx not a hair less....or dont even think about it.

Re: Stance GR+ done

I also used QS components for my endlink making. I ordered enough for my to do my rears as well so now im just waiting on dayle and the machine shop to send out the rear sway bar I ordered.

Overall I am very happy with the performance. I am completely stable at stupid fast speeds that I havent seen in forever. I know i may be lectured but I just had to test it. And with the hankook evo v12 tires the overall handling is excellent I just need to stop procrastinating the rear diff bushings.

Re: Stance GR+ done

Awesome, looks great. Very clean. And just the right height too. About the same height as I have mine at in fact.

Did you machine the top plates yourself and put the studs in?

Re: Stance GR+ done

I like it a lot, this looks like machine work i could handle, though wouldnt sti spring rates be a bit soft on our heavier cars?

edit: nvm, saw that they were custom ordered.

Re: Stance GR+ done

Looks great! I still love my Stance coilovers, the car feel glued to the road. How many hours was the install? Using the 05-07 STi was smart, the lower mount is already much closer to fitting than my 02-07 WRX. I believe Stance sells the tube portion of the lower mount as a fabrication part. If/when I redo mine in the future I'll buy those and add my own flanges to perfectly match the SVX knuckles.

Edit: Yep, here. But at $229/pair! That's a little outrageous if you ask me.

See his last picture, looks like he used a beefier version of what I did.

No I did the rear. The picture with the drill press is the rear mount with the new stud hole.

Yea I did all the work myself probably took me 15hours total but I was building the end links at the same time. There was at least 8 hours of grinding and measuring but I was being very careful

Re: Stance GR+ done

What's the difference between how they're mounted in the STI versus the SVX?

Most likely the fitting sizes are the same at both ends of the lines, but the lengths may not work out right.
