it does look familiar - Porsche did it in 1987 on the 928S4.

"a new, more compact two-stage intake manifold. The last comprised twin resonance chambers or tracts -- one long, one short -- feeding air to the intake pipes via a Y-shaped passage from the throttle body. Below 3,500 rpm the engine breathed only through the long tract; above that, depending on throttle position, a butterfly valve in the second tract opened to increase airflow. Porsche claimed this setup ensured at least 300 pounds/feet of torque from 2,700 to 4,750 rpm, a “fat” torque curve, indeed."

Looks like Porsche has decided use the Helmholtz chamber theory that the SVX has had, to increase the torque at the 3000+ rpm area. This is mainly adaptable to 3, 6, and 12 cylinder engines.
It looks like they use a different tract for the high end resonance, by the flaps that change the inlet tracts from the inertia system tracts, to the different length resonance tracts. The SVX uses the same inlet tracts for both the inertia, and the resonance system, as it has a lower peak torque rpm.

Nothings new is it???????????

Alan Porsche did not use the same inertia system on the 8 cylinder engine as the SVX or the 6 cylinder Porsche, as you can only do this with groups of three cylinders. It has to work in with the inlet duration of 240*. 240X3 equals 720*
720/4 equals 180* and thats not enough inlet duration for an engine. The 8 cylinder used two different length inertia tracts, that it switches between. Not the pumping action of the SVX inertia system.
