Re: Just ordered my new AMR Engineering Coilovers

Yea, I'd feel a little better about them if there were some pictures of the actual SVX fitment coil-overs in production or ready for shipment. It would help to answer some of the questions about the top-hats in the front and to see about the proper bracketry on the coil-over bodies for mounting the brake and ABS lines and the the swaybar endlinks.

Re: Just ordered my new AMR Engineering Coilovers

Got email from Andy today.
He has been reading these posts.
He said his reputation from previous coilovers speaks for itself.
These coilovers will be guaranteed to fit.
He has a couple sets of stock suspension to assure fitment.

There will also be no group buy.
I think it is QUITE POSSIBLE no more made as the demand for these is very low.
I also am pretty positive the price will be considerably higher if he makes more.
Most of his coilovers are in the 1700 price range... I would bet that these will be AT LEAST THAT PRICE if he makes them again.

He also read about the other coilovers...
And basically he said there are those for 1400 (cuz shipping was 200) or his for 1300 NOW... our choice. And after this batch is made if he makes them again it will be pricier because it will be one at a time. Again it is our choice.

I urge you all to step up.
Call him talk to him.
Damn if I had 6000 I would buy 4 sets... because the koni gc setup is about to be no longer available.
The other set seems like to much of a hassle and seems to be Korean crap cuz it ships from Korea or Taiwan.

I am one of the most meticulous guys you will meet... ask Nate. Nate wont sell me a set of sunvisors because he knows that the visor may break. I am glad he wont sell it to me. I appreciated Nates decision because Nate knows I will buy it from dealer. I just ordered a new aic and a new TPS and new door sills from the dealer. About 700. I also will be ordering a new set of coils soon.

The reason for that story is to let u know how I am with my cars... meticulous may not even be a strong enuff word.
I am crazy about my cars.
I have had porsches corvettes... had a 73 mustang convertible (worth about 30k-50k at it highest)
I now have a custom chopper that probably cost 60k to build.
I love the svx probably more than any of them.
I only want the best and best bang for my buck.
I am broke...I work minimum wage job.
I was unemployed for six years prior to october 2011.
I just got lucky with acquiring these toys.

I wanted the best and I am positive I am gonna get the best.
U should too.

If he has really been reading them then he should understand what people have voiced here.

There are also unanswered questions about his product.

I don't mean to speak for everybody, but it seems like people here are waiting for either one of the coil over sets to be placed on a car to spend their money. I should know as I'm one of them.

If Andy can provide a product, I'd like to imagine that people would be more inclined to buy them. However, if he jacks the price significantly upon releasing them I will not be one of his customers.

Re: Just ordered my new AMR Engineering Coilovers

If you have questions about any other product how would u go about finding the answers to the questions you have?

Would you call?
Would you email?

Both of those options are available to u.

I have suggested he get on here.
He will likely NEVER do that.
Which now I believe it would be best if he didn't come on here.

The last thing I would like to see is him come on here and someone say something stupid (which happens alot on here)
And him get upset and he feels like he has to start defending himself and says **** it.

I believe all the positive stuff that has been said about his kits speak louder than anything he could type on a keyboard.

The reason they will be cheaper NOW is because it is multiple sets that have been ordered.
That is pretty much standard procedure for businesses that have machinery that makes the product.
Because once the machine is set up and programmed it costs the same to make one as it does to make 50... not including price of materials.
So maybe he should sell next set for the same price plus $200 for machine reprogramming... and $200 for set up fees.

Like I said he may or may not make them again.

Pics? videos? Anything to keep me from just ordering oem struts?

My svx has been parked for too long waiting on struts..
I am close to just ordering OEM ones and taking my chances..

Re: Just ordered my new AMR Engineering Coilovers

Don't order the oem.
We are almost there.
We got more design pics.
Call him... talk to him.
Andy is a great guy...
I get that u guys are worried about the timeline...
He missed the original date of completion.
But he stays in contact... emails or calls back same day.
He lets us know what is happening and it is honest... not some sad cancer story.
For example it is "hey this part of design has held me up..."
He makes no excuses he tells it like he sees it.

I assure u that there will be alot of "damn I should have ordered that!"
I would understand the hesitation if it was a new company like ceika where mike got his
Because no one had heard of them... but this is a reputable coilover company.
THIS IS WHAT HE DOES!

And if u don't like his set up I will buy you a set of konis and trade u for the AMR!

Re: Just ordered my new AMR Engineering Coilovers

Let's hope so, I don't know if I could wait that long. It sounds like we might have them by the end of the month (called him last week) and he talked me through pretty much the same thing he emailed us about yesterday.

Sounds like that is cleared up though and they can finish things up. Let's hope they work quickly

Someone that knows how to set up a computer clock that can click off the hours since this thing "supposedly" started to keep us up to date on the progress or maybe the lack of any progress!

How did I miss this. I might just have to invest! Have been looking at suspension options for two years now. Not sure I would trust the Taiwan ones yet.

Re: Just ordered my new AMR Engineering Coilovers

Until someone actually has the coilovers installed on their car and a review is published, it's still a theoretical crap shoot. Whether its the ones from the "Far East" or the "Far West", promises were made by both that can only be validated in the real-world environment.

Just like voting in the 2012 election, no matter who you choose, there is always the possibility of disappointment.

Re: Just ordered my new AMR Engineering Coilovers

Yep, seems like there are quite a few of us waiting for a positive review of these on an SVX.
I wish I could take his other work as reputation, but just because he is good at making struts for other cars, does not mean he will be good at making svx parts.
My old mechanic was great at fixing my Impreza, when I brought him my svx and he may as well been fresh out of school, sitting there reading manuals..
Know what I mean? This is nothing against Andy in anyway. I just have trust issues.

Anyways, I saw an earlier post about additional programing and setup fees for the second run, and I got a question.
So once he has the machine setup to make these, he cant just download that program to flash drive so he doesn't have to write the program again to make a 2nd batch?
Seems crazy to me you would have to reprogram by hand for every type of strut he makes.
I don't do any type of machine work, so I really have no clue...
I just figured that you just insert some stock into the machine, plug in a flash drive with your commands and hit go, like a printer...
If that is not how it works in real life, then maybe I just found a great invention?

Choosing is not so complicated when to tag the one that we ended up with last time as even a "major disappointment" would be a colossal upgrade...
