Cut off and wrecked the svx bad

What all would I need to replace if I were to rebuild it besides seals

Depends on what's actually wrong with it (if anything).

lets say hypothetically it needs a rod bearing. I would get the bearings and what else to make it newish again? Piston rings? new rods?

The crank would most likely need to be ground, either just the rod journals or the main ones too. You'll need one size smaller bearings for those that are ground.

You'd also need rings, cylinders honed, block machined, heads machined, valve stem seals, and probably some more stuff. and just generally cleaning things up. Get some cometic headgaskets also. I don't think you'd need rods, unless one is actually damaged.

Basically take it mostly apart and then take it to a good machine shop and let them have at it.

pulled one of the head bolts out to find it covered in sparkly oil so its being parted for the good stuff and being junked for the metal.

Got the new motor in and it fired up with no leaks. Took it around the block and can hear a rotational scrap from the middle of the car (driveshaft) maybe scraping a possibly bent heat shield? Hope so, just need to drive it some more to let the lifters to stop ticking, it isn't bad but from sitting so long they need a kick in the ass.

Turns out the heat shield cracked and bent up touching the driveshaft. Just a slight clunk from the front guessing stuff loosened when it hit. Just needs the tires, rear struts,alighnment, and a well deserved bath.

It was worth it. The car itself is in pretty good shape inside and out with and upgraded trans so it was a no brainer.
