94 with oil leaks
Ok so I have had this car for about 3 months with a slow oil leak, but do not want to break anything on the car so it is time to get those pesky oil leaks fixed. Both the valve cover gaskets and cam seal are leaking. I was wondering what have people had to pay for such things getting fixed, or is it something you completed yourself? I would like to know what a shop might charge for this (I plan on going to a few but don't want to get ripped off) and how hard on a scale of 1 to 10 is this task to complete. Any help you guys can offer me is appreciative.

Re: 94 with oil leaks
This spring I paid a shop to fix oil leak on the SVX I am selling. The total cost of valve cover, plug seals, valve cover grommets and labor to remove and replace valve cover gasket came to around $350. They also cleaned and degreased the motor and charged me additional for that. This was at a very reputable shop here (not the dealer.) I dont know if this is reasonable or not. But hope it helps!

Re: 94 with oil leaks
That is a great help, and I thank you. The dealer (which I knew would be high) said it would be $1645. So I am hoping my work would be somewhere around $600. If anyone else has anything to chime in I appreciate it.

Re: 94 with oil leaks
If you have a second car you can drive, its not too much to tackle yourself, but depending on your mechanical ability, could end up taking a couple days for everything. Otherwise, if you need it done and back asap, finding a shop shouldn't be too hard. Just call around and ask for quotes...
