SVX Meet 2010?

Anybody interested in an SVX meet this Summer? Not looking for definite commitment, just an expression of interest and some ideas.

The JAE is on the weekend of 11th September at Wicksteed park, Northamptonshire.

There are some other presumably similar shows: JapShow 4th July SantaPod, JapFest 15th May Castle Combe or 15th Aug Rockingham.

There's the Goodwood Festival of Speed on 3rd-4th July. Awesome but pricey.

The Midlands Breakfast club looks interesting to me. 20th June at the RAF museum in Cosford http://www.midlandsbreakfastclub.co.uk

"Cars in the park", up north somewhere, 9th May, http://www.carsinthepark.org.uk/

Or we could do something else, or nothing at all.

Any interest? Any ideas?

Goodwood Breakfast meet: 4 April: ‘Sporting Family Favourites - four-seater fun’
This is this weekend so only of use to locals, I will be going in the SVX.

Re: SVX Meet 2010?

I would put my hand up for the Cosford meet. Although it's nearby, it is also fairly central for all.

Anyway, surely I'm entitled to some benefit living in the Midlands, there aren't many you know.

PS Anyone got a decent radiator, or know a source to buy one at sensible cost?

PPS Thank God I haven't had a drink else an lpg SVX in red at that tempting price would virtually guarantee me waking up one morning with my wedding tackle on the bedside cabinet.....Assuming I actually woke up, that is.

PPPS Joe, I read elsewhere that road tax in Ireland is about £650 a year for an SVX engine sized car - is this right?

Happy Easter everyone!

Cosford looks interesting to me too. I'd love to see the planes, I almost joined the RAF, way back. June won't suit me for a number of reasons, two weddings and a Bike trip happening round that time. I note they have a September date though.

Happy Easter Steve!

No, I don't know where you got that figure but it's not even close. We would have been paying that sort of a figure back in the 70's.

£650 would not even tax the SVX for six months!

The yearly rate is €1566, about £1410 of your money.

Six months is €869, approx £782 at current rates.

Three months is €442, around £399.

You can see how easy they make it for us over here to keep down the mileage on our classic cars.

Hi all

I would be interested in tagging along if it's the right place and timing - as long as you don't mind a Legacy in your midst?! Would be good to catch up with you guys again.

Re: SVX Meet 2010?

So it looks like the favourite is Sunday 19th September at the RAF Museum in Cosford, Shropshire.

Re: SVX Meet 2010?

hi i would be interested in a svx meeting. We have 5 svx in our little village. 3 have been converted into manuals and 2 are waiting to be done. We have started up our own club called oilerboyz japclub. We will be going to castel combe on the 15 may and also going to jae. If anyone is going to these shows let us know and maybe we could meet up at.

Re: SVX Meet 2010?

Welcome Geachy. Nice to have you aboard.

5 SVXes? In the one village? Cool. You could start up a national meeting on your own. I look forward to meeting you guys soon. Could we trouble you to give us some registration details on the cars? We keep a list of all known cars so we can document them for Classic status for insurance etc.

Joe

[Cosford in Sept is probably the only one for me too. Even that weekend one of my nieces is getting married [about 5 or 6 weddings over the summer. Mops up a lot of weekends]

Re: SVX Meet 2010?

Sept Cosford suits me fine. Belated thanks AJAS for the ebay tip but I'm going to break the habit of a lifetime and get a new one.
Going to blow a little volcanic ash off the old boy tomorrow. My SVX that is, before you all jump to the wrong conclusion. He's called Ron and I always name things Ron when I like them....
